Hoops for Heart/ Jump Rope for Heart
Last year's Hoops for Heart activity.
On Friday, March 12, Matheny School students will be participating in Hoops for Heart and Jump Rope for Heart as part of several activities designed to raise money for the American Heart Association. Students will take part in Jump Rope for Heart either by wheeling over the top of a rope independently, with staff member assistance, or by holding onto a swinging rope independently. In Hoops for Heart, students will be assisted by staff unless they are capable of completing the task themselves.
On the same day, throughout Matheny, all employees are being encouraged to wear red and donate $5 to help the AHA raise women’s awareness of cardiovascular disease and empower women to reduce their risks. Families and friends of Matheny students have been asked to send checks, made out to The American Heart Association, to Jim Hintenach, adapted physical education teacher, at The Matheny School, 65 Highland Ave., PO Box 339, Peapack, NJ 07977. A portion of the proceeds will help fund new equipment for Matheny's adapted physical education program. For more information, Hintenach can be reached at 908 234-0011, ext. 319.
