The Friends of Matheny recently celebrated twenty five years of service to the Matheny Medical and Educational Center, a special hospital and special education school in Peapack. The Friends, who also operate the Second Chance Shop, a thrift store located in Gladstone, presented a $250,000 check at their annual luncheon. The Friends, tireless advocates for the Matheny Medical and Educational Center, have funded many programs, services and improvements to the physical plant. Recent donations include funding the purchase of therapeutic equipment, computer systems, adaptive sports equipment, community trips, weekend entertainment and a wheelchair accessible van. They also decorate residents’ rooms for the holidays, operate the Holiday Boutique and provide and serve refreshments at special events. The Friends have donated more than $2.2 million to Matheny since 1983.
