Holiday Express Rocks Matheny
Holiday Express, the Monmouth County-based all-volunteer band whose mission is to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those in need during the holiday season, made its annual visit to Matheny on Sunday, December 13. Despite icy weather that delayed the band bus, it was, as usual, an incredibly uplifiting afternoon for Matheny patients and students and their families.
The Holiday Express organization is comprised of more than 1,300 volunteers including more than 80 professional musicians. Founded in 1993 by restaurateur and musician Tim McLoone, Holiday Express visits more than 50 institutions every year between November and the end of December. On December 9, members of the Matheny choir performed with Holiday Express at its benefit concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Holiday Express also performs at the Matheny Prom, held every May at the Skylands in Randolph.
