Last year, Cedar Grove residents, Menaka and Reva Dhingra, were the impetus behind a fund-raising campaign at Morristown-Beard School to help support Miles for Matheny.

Though starting out only a month before the event, the sisters led a drive that raised $1,500.  This year the Dhingra sisters are starting earlier, and their goal is to surpass last year’s total. Menaka and Reva regularly volunteer at Matheny after school, and, during a recent visit, they said several school sales are in the works.  They also said they enjoy participating in the Lu Huggins Wheelchair Walk at Miles for Matheny because, as walking partners, they have an opportunity to get to know the patients better.  Morristown-Beard is a co-ed independent college preparatory day school in Morristown, NJ, for students, grades 6-12.

The 11th annual Miles for Matheny will be held Sunday, April 20, in downtown Peapack.  In addition to the wheelchair walk, there are several cycle rides, a 5K run and a kids fun run, all followed by a celebration picnic at Matheny.   Funds raised help support Matheny’s outpatient center, which provides much-needed medical and dental care to people with disabilities in 12 New Jersey counties.  Title sponsor for the third consecutive year is sanofi-aventis, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies whose U.S. corporate headquarters is in Bridgewater.
