Warren Family Hopes to Repeat As Miles for Matheny’s Highest Online Fundraiser

“It’s an amazing day.”  That’s how Melissa Travers of Warren describes Miles for Matheny.  Melissa and her husband, Patrick, were the top online fundraisers last year, generating more than $6,000 in donations from friends and business associates.  “The best part of the day,” adds Patrick Travers, “is seeing how excited everyone is at the wheelchair walk – not just the Matheny patients but all of the other kids who are walking with them.”

The 11th annual Miles for Matheny will be held Sunday, April 20, in downtown Peapack, and the Travers family is determined to defend its fundraising title.  Activities include several cycle rides, a 5K run, a kids’ fun run and the Lu Huggins Wheelchair Walk in which more than 100 participants in wheelchairs travel 1.5 miles around Peapack, accompanied by walking partners.  The day is concluded with a celebration picnic at Matheny.  Title sponsor for the third consecutive year is sanofi-aventis, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies whose U.S. corporate headquarters is in Bridgewater.
