Since many Matheny students are unable to verbalize their needs, our Behavioral Team seeks to understand the meaning behind behaviors. Consulting and collaborating continuously with the entire educational team, the Matheny School Behavioral Team implements evidence-based behavioral strategies and classroom management techniques to foster our students’ learning and adjustment.
Our program emphasizes specific behavior strategies that utilize positive reinforcement and environmental adaptations to emphasize desired behaviors in various settings while also allowing students to develop a sense of individuality and belonging.
The Matheny School Behavioral Team is staffed by a certified School Psychologist/licensed Psychologist, a behaviorally-trained Assistant Principal, and Behaviorists with special education classroom experience and/or experience working with the disabled population.
